I want to add that I had a very negative interaction with the manager, Candy/Candace. After a serious and upsetting medical experience, I called the office a few times in distress hoping for support. Instead, I was spoken to with hostility as if I was the problem. I was upset about damage a doctor caused to my private area during a treatment.
Also, during this, a few days in, my account had been locked. When I was speaking to the manager and asked about it, the manager told me it was locked and said she would unlock it. But once it was unlocked, she changed her story and said that actually, it had never been locked, right in front of me, as she did it. I refreshed, and it was indeed unlocked now. But I had taken a screenshot from before, when it was locked. When I mentioned that, she fell silent and then brushed it off, saying, 'It doesn't matter, that's fine.' It was bizarre.
When I tried to speak about the damage to my private area caused by the doctor, the manager at one point spoke to me in a mocking tone, saying, 'Wow, this is really important to you huh?' I couldn't believe what I was hearing. That comment, and the way she was speaking to me generally was deeply unprofessional, unprovoked, and painful, especially given the injury involved my private area. As a woman herself, I thought she would get it- I mean, if a doctor damages the nerves on your private area, any woman would be overwhelmed and upset. Especially with the slow responses when I called the next few days, the locking of my account, the lack of empathy/emotion from the people in this office when I explained what happened, and then the doctor stopped answering me…. This manager did not show any kindness. She spoke with cruelty.
I left the interaction feeling so upset, shaken, dismissed, gaslit, and treated with cruelty instead of compassion. I was very upset before we spoke given what happened. I also did not deserve to be treated that way or spoken to like that. Her behavior was unprofessional and inappropriate. I was also shocked because this office is located in Beverly Hills, where you would expect the highest standard of professionalism, care, and safety.
I am very traumatized by this experience. As a patient, I believe I deserve to be treated with respect, honesty, and care. The doctor soon stopped responding to me. I wanted to inform others of what happened to me. This is solely my experience.

My experience with Dr. Karen Toubi was deeply traumatic and life-changing in the worst way. I underwent Cliovana treatment under her care a year (and a month) ago, and after the final session, I experienced severe and possibly permanent changes to my clitoral nerves. It has been a year and the area has not healed at all. I can no longer orgasm , something I never imagined I’d lose at such a young age. It’s been over a year, and the damage is still with me, affecting my body, my mind, and my spirit every single day.
Before the last session, I shared that I had previous nerve issues on the other side of my clitoris and had only recently regained sensation in a small, specific area. That area had never been damaged before and was the one place where everything still felt normal. Shockingly, during that final session, the treatment was focused on that exact spot, the only one I had left with full sensation. I had shown her that spot in multiple sessions and made it clear that it mattered to me.
That decision, one outside of the instructions of this equipment, changed my life.
What has hurt just as much as the physical damage is the silence that followed after our initial conversations. It felt like confusion, avoidance, and minimization , as though this was nothing more than a minor issue rather than a devastating violation of trust. The way I was spoken to, as if my reaction was exaggerated or irrational, was deeply painful. I expected empathy, especially from the women I spoke with in the office. Instead, I felt dismissed and alone.
It breaks me every day. I have not been the same since. I trusted her. I believed she would understand how fragile this area was and act accordingly. Instead, I walked away permanently altered.
This is not written out of spite. it’s written out of grief, heartbreak, and the hope that no other woman experiences what I have. If you’re considering this treatment, please be informed. If you’re a medical professional, let this be a reminder: every patient is different. Their bodies are sacred. Even subtle decisions can have irreversible consequences. Don't stay in your egos. Think it through with humility and careful care.
Please take care, not just with your hands, but with your humility.

My experience at this practice has been mixed. I’ve continued coming here mainly because of Dr. Chen — she’s efficient, explains things clearly, and I’ve felt confident in her care! :)
Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about overall patient experience. At my last 3 appointments, the medical staff have not introduced themselves, explained next steps, or acknowledged when there was confusion or miscommunication. Even basic greetings and goodbyes were often missing. These small, but important actions really can contribute to how comfortable and respected a patient feels and I’ve found them noticeably lacking.
There’s definitely potential here, especially with a provider like Dr. Chen, but I hope the practice invests in improving the overall patient experience.

This is my personal experience and opinion. I’m sharing this in the hope it brings awareness to others and because I’m still deeply affected by what happened.
Last June I came to Dr. Karen Toubi because I had existing nerve damage in my private area (on my C). There was a small section of nerves on my C that were still working well, and I made that clear to her. I came in hoping to support healing for the damaged side and to preserve (and not touch) what was still intact. We decided on a treatment called CLIOVANA.
During our first few sessions, it was going well. I was and felt vulnerable and exposed lying on that table and trusting that she had the knowledge and training to handle my situation with the utmost care. In the beginning she was and seemed kind and empathetic. During one session, I asked her if the device was supposed to go directly on the C area itself/ on the nerves themselves, and she told me no, only the surrounding area. I remember that clearly.
In the final session, in the last few minutes, she told me she would “now go on and spread your nerves” (this was not done in any of my other sessions) and she immediately proceeded. I felt the equipment going on and pushing into my C, on the exact spot I showed and discussed had working nerves and were intact. Within seconds once the equipment was taken off, that spot felt different. I did not feel my nerves. I thought nothing of it in the moment though, I said my goodbyes and when I went home, I felt horrific changes and I realized something was wrong. I experienced tingling, sharp pain, warmth and that loss of normal sensation and all the pleasurable, normal nerves were no longer there I did not feel any of it in that spot anymore. The nerves that had been working before, but now felt affected. It felt like I was reliving past trauma, this time on the other side of my private area (the C).
When I returned to the office in a state of shock and obvious distress I tried to explain what I was feeling. I was met with a defensive response. At one point, when I became emotional I was told “Well, you can leave then if you want.” I found that response dismissive and hurtful especially given the state I was in and what I was trying to express.
She also told me that she and her staff had discussed the appearance of my private area. Her assistant (or nurse/PA) nodded while she said this. I found this extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable, especially considering the vulnerable position I was in.
This made me feel even more distraught. I tried to explain my entire situation to the office manager, Candace, but I felt dismissed. She made a comment at one point “Wow, this really is important to you, huh?” that I found deeply insensitive. There were loads of other things I will not go into that was said. I was in physical pain and emotionally overwhelmed. I also had difficulty accessing my account and records and was concerned about how my case was being handled from that point forward.
After a few weeks of back and forth, Dr. Toubi stopped responding to my messages. I had been reaching out frequently because I was panicking and had no idea what to do. I was in a state of emotional shock. She did tell me she had consulted with a colleague and was told that I had likely experienced damage from what happened. I know from what I was feeling, I absolutely did. My sensations/symptoms have continued now for 10 months, the warmth is gone but the rest of it is the same.
I cry every day. I am deeply depressed. I do not feel like me, all over again. I am struggling deeply and still trying to process the trauma.
I trusted this doctor with something incredibly sensitive, and I still don’t understand why the equipment was used the way it was, especially when I had previously been told that such use was outside the standard approach.
I continue to replay everything that happened. The area I asked her to be cautious with, because it was still functional, was affected directly. I don’t understand why that decision was made especially after I was assured otherwise. When I later asked her what led her to do that, I didn’t receive a clear answer.
This experience has been devastating. I sincerely hope no one else goes through something similar. If you are seeking care that involves sensitive nerve areas or treatments like CLIOVANA (Clivoana did not answer my calls, emails, nothing) please ask questions, get second opinions, and make sure you feel completely safe and informed. My hope is that sharing my story might help someone else make a fully informed decision. Again, this was my personal experience. I am posting this review so others can be careful with something so fragile.
